Well, it's purely an economic enterprise, trapping. So you drown Pepe in order to acquire his fur, which you can exchange for money. Or make into a fur hat like Kerry's.

Trapping is the finest activity I've ever experienced. Although the killing aspect of it is distasteful, it's no different from nearly every economic enterprise in that some critter has to die at some point. I like Kahlil Gibran's take on the matter:
