And property taxes are going up much faster than the inflation rate, at least in northern New Jersey, many people are starting to feel the pain of rising mortgage payments through the county and city landlords. I knew the peak in housing prices had to be here, when a relatively poor couple arrived from South America with their kids and mother early last year, then worked like crazy at all kinds of substandard jobs so they could join the mad crowd and buy a house right around the peak of the mountain of rising home prices, right after the head of the family got someone to sign the paper allowing him to stay in this country... It was crazy stuff watching almost 100 year old average homes going for $325,000+ in so-so middle to lower middle class neighborhoods.
