The proposal clearly has done that up to this point. I was suggesting another possibility going forward but I don't know the future, only the possibilities. That's why I listed potential pros and cons.

Analogy: When introducing any thing unusual to a community it will provoke a reaction. If you introduce a new queen bee or drop any bee on the porch of an existing colony, the worker bees will immediately attack it and kill it, then throw it off the porch. New queens are introduced by putting them into a little screened cage with a candy plug. Over time the plug will be eaten and by that time the worker bees will be used to the queen's presence and accept it as one of their own.

If these people were aggressive and confrontational in general I would agree with your prediction but accounts so far show them to be pretty meek and accommodating. And they aren't a closed community like most Muslim communities; they are building a community center with provisions for interfaith gathering and bridge building. That seems to be their goal but nothing guarantees its success.
