Bob and Gottfried, OT Car Dealers

The "payment" for the great service (and price) I got from the sales manager was to write a letter to the owner of the store suitable for posting on the wall about the good experience.

Basicially, in 1994 they often give $8K discounts to move 'vettes that are past the 90 day period when it costs them money to floor the car (you probably understand the details much better than I). They gave me a black, 6 speed on this deal even though they were not having any trouble moving black 6 speeds before the 90 day period. It helped that I used to date the salesmanager's girlfriend and we were still good friends. When I went back to select and negotiate a Suburban for a lady friend in Sept/Oct 2001 (for our ski trips), I asked about this and they said they are not allowed to do it anymore but it was used in the past for "close friends and family"....

I did have a bad experience with the internet sales manager's partner but he was "gone" before we completed the deal and my understanding was I was not the only one that didn't like the guy. He was pushy and a butthole as you used to think of car salesmen of the old days...didn't last.

I LOVE the internet for car shopping... Do you research there, use the salesmen for test drives, then send in your specificiations to the internet sales manager and let him find the best car for you and offer his best price. The good ones seem to give a good, fair, low price and don't budge at all so feel comfortable that you are getting a fair deal if you decide to change cars (i.e. don't have to bargain all over again.) The guy I had would even do that for the used cars, look in the computer, say "this is what I can give it to you for" and that was that. We had all understanding of cash vs finance costs understood before making the deal (I like to pay cash for a new car... )

happy new year! Hope Rob sells many cars with loads of electronics this year!
