Another point on the topic of derivatives. It is nearly impossible to know specifics about them as most are contracts and can be set up in very different ways, which makes it just as impossible to know if the bank or insurance company may face a collateral call or something similar.

FWIW, Greenblatt suggests not investing in financials at all while Graham suggested using tangible book value, however in his time these derivative products did not exist.
