So far MSFT has moved on a log chart at a rate of a decade every 3.3 years. If the trend continues, we
will cross the decade of $100 this year and MSFT will be over $1000 by year 202 (and the market cap
will be ~2.5 trillion). Hope you are a short term trader.


The short position is very much a short term trade. As everyone says you'd be crazy to open a short position in MSFT and then just forget about it!

However, I find it difficult to believe that MSFT could have a market cap of 2.5 trillion in 2002 or any time soon - that's about a quarter of US GDP and is equal to about 1/12 of the value of the total US real capital stock or 1/3 of the current value of the share market. Those are just crazy numbers even if the current valuation isn't so crazy.
