Thanks for your reaction! Some comments:

- I would reason exactly as you when only vendors would be talking about y2k. However, many other (more neutral) organisations are warning about serious y2k effects on society; I have read a lot of publications of such organisations. They convinced me!

Some examples:

- FED
- EPRI (www.epri.com): institute for electrical power research on the embedded software problem
- SPR (software productivity research): total estimates on world wide costs
- Morgan Stanley
- Ed Yourdon (world famous specialist on software engineering)

etc etc
