Well you are close with the satelite call, but not quite.. the future is microwave wireless links (i.e. cell phone style stuff). That's where the future of access is going. Why? Well 2 reasons really:

(1) Deployment costs are only a fraction of laying copper or putting a bird aloft and (2) you can roam around with your laptop and use it in the park, the office, the bus, etc... PERFECT for "constantly connected".

My little laptop could be on the net 24/7 and go everywhere I do.
