Hi E_K_S ... the thing about using the ADVFN database and EXCEL is the fact that ADVFN has an enormous number of Financial Statement items plus many other financial factors and parameters.
You can also create many of your own unique spreadsheets. For example, you can create one purely for the Bank Sector with its own set of items you are interested in.
Once you have the data that you want in your ADVFN Screen, you can then quickly download it into your own EXCEL Template via a Copy and Paste. EXCEL will then do the calculations to obtain financial ratios, etc, from the ADVFN data. And this is done for all the companies in your screen, not just for one company.
As you know, I'm a fan of financial ratios, similar to what Buffett targets, in order to check on the business performance of a company. Therefore by loading the relevant data from ADVFN into EXCEL, one can get the spreadsheet to calculate numerous ratios simultaneously for many companies. One can also get EXCEL to sort them such that one can determine those companies that have the best overall results.
So, in essence, it's a case of using the relevant data from ADVFN and then using the "formulation" process from EXCEL to calculate what you may want to have, at the end of the day. |
