I'm sorry if I implied anything about the Quran or Hadith is viewed as obsolete by Muslims. Parts of it are simply not applicable to a particular circumstance or specific time. Much of the problems are the result of trying to push a square peg into a round hole but I think that mistake is done by most people committed to a doctrine. I wondered for a long time why there were rules about the treatment of slaves when ancient Muslims had begun freeing slaves and living with ex-slaves as equals. A modern Muslim said it could come back some day, which I found hard to believe. Now, I discover there is a rise in modern day slavery; there is more forced labor, even in chains, than ever in history.

"Anyway, let's just agree to disagree with respect to the differences between Christianity and Islam."

Fine with me.

"especially when it comes to faith-based vs. works-based salvation."

You are right, I don't see any difference. I even see how Jesus should be proclaimed as a savior by Muslims, based on the Quranic text alone but that would be a hard sell to most Muslims.

"I also realize that my comments will come across as rather arrogant to someone who thinks I have no authority to proclaim one faith as superior and another faith as inferior."

Not to me unless it is on the same level as anyone who would choose one religious discipline over all others. It is almost impossible to be a religious community member without doing that. Some people get carried away ranting and raving to criticise things they don't understand but that is not the same thing.

I don't have a problem with it even though that is not my way. I'm a very private person and somewhat reclusive in life style.

" ... though the humble part is still something I need to improve upon personally."

Self-improvement/growth is a noble goal and one I intend with most of my participation here.
