I was listening to a guy on NBR the other night who said the industry would be going from Client-Server software to "Distributed Object technology".

I'm familiar with some of the client/server SW plays, but I have no idea what Distributed Object technology is.

HELP!!

I'm interested because I think one of the next hot areas will be the SW companies that the networkers will be (are) integrating into their products. (BOBJY for example)

I'm trying to distinguish who's-who in this arena and put together a list of potential plays.
