Good point. Then one should revisit that acquisition and see how much AOL paid for Time Warner as of today's stock price. Then compare that "valuation" to the valuations of other companies "similiar" to Time Warner. I believe finding such a company would be difficult since I don't know of a company that had both a Cable Company plus a Media Company. I could be wrong....

Assuming that there is such a company out there, then comparing the valuations, etc.

Then one can see whether AOL overpaid, or not.

To me, though, I really didn't "understand" the necessity for AOL to take over Time Warner. AOL said they wanted cable and media, the marriage between growth and stable cash flows. In some ways, their open access arguments hurt them now.

I believe that AOL should have continued with their DSL strategy since the AOL brand name is strong.
