No.

They could say they're going to wCDMA while they roll out 1x, like Korea.

If NTT rolls out wCDMA in May, 2001, look for them to "begin" by installing 1x.

This is the only way they can meet deadline - and keep I-Mode competitive, so they can maintain their present lead (read value added, high margin services).
