Kerry has already stood up to the powerful UAW and not gotten their endorsement. JK will insist upon higher fuel efficiency standards not just for cars but for all energy-burning engines in the USA. That is the real first step toward energy independence. The McCain-Kery CAFE standards fuel efficiency bill was defeated by Bushies and oil/auto lobbyists.
