SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- InterTrust Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: ITRU), the leading provider of trusted Digital Rights Management (DRM) announced today that SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. is licensing InterTrust's Rights|System DRM for Sanyo's next generation Digital Memory portable music player.

Sanyo is the latest company to adopt InterTrust's Rights|System platform, a lightweight, flexible, multi-platform environment that easily integrates with existing systems. With the Rights|System platform and its single back-end architecture, consumers may access any type of content through any device, while maintaining a transparent consumer experience. This partnership offers consumers convenient access to their favorite music while enabling the protection of artists' music and fostering consumer adoption of secure formats. Sanyo will deploy InterTrust's market-tested Rights|PD DRM client which works in conjunction with other Rights|System components running on Servers, PCs, Set top boxes, and mobile devices.

"As digital music and content consumption expand, consumer demand for portability increases," said Talal Shamoon, EVP of Business Development at InterTrust. "This partnership confirms Sanyo's and InterTrust's shared goals of delivering secured new music to consumers on devices they want."

"Integrating InterTrust's DRM with our products gives the music industry a secure and protected means to distribute and manage its music over the Internet," said Tatsuo Tanaka, general manager of New Business Projects at Sanyo's Multimedia Company. "The partnership proves that we are committed to bring new secured digital music to our users."
