Concerning some bible trivia I read last night in Genesis that when the two angels commanded Lot to flee Sodom and find refuge in the mountains that Lot disobeyed and instead went to Zoar.

The wonderful thing about his disobedience was that God spared Zoar possibly only because Lot was there. It was after Lot witnessed the total destruction of the whole valley and all the other cities and all the people and all the vegtation that he obeyed and fled to the mountains to the land of his kindred.

You will remember that three 'men' appeared unto Abraham, one was the Lord, and the other two were angels. God stayed behing after telling Abraham and Sarah they would have a son while the two angels went ahead to Sodom to get Lot out.

It was at that time that Abraham and God had the conversation about how many righteous people it would take for God to spare Sodom. They started out at 50 and ended up at 10 so you can assume that there were ten or less righteous people in Sodom.

Counting Lot, his two daughters, and Lot's wife, that only left room for a maximum of 6 other righteous people in Sodom. You can assume that there were over 7 righteous people in Zoar.....when Lot got there with his two daughters, i.e. his wife was turned to a pillar of salt...that left 7 more to make up the ten righteous. Never-the-less the city was spared.

What I find so intriguing is that the destruction, as related to Lot by the angels, could not proceed unless Lot was removed from the city.

I am doing some additional research on the 5 cities of the dead sea area...if I find anything additional that I am totally surprised by I will relate that to you.
