Are we sure about this? Could he have been both? When Billy Graham came to the White House, was that just for spiritual advice or did he get involved in the politics of the day. I think the reverend has blurred the lines on this also with the parts of his sermons played on youtube.

And there is a huge difference, I would agree. Obama has cut ties with others that have come across as something negative. He hasn't with the reverend. The fact that Obama appears not to have taken the bad parts of the reverends stuff to heart will not be material to people who will try to use this as a negative against Obama.
