At any rate, God spared Zoar on account of Lot, and perhaps on account of Abraham who he had chosen ... who intervened on Lot's behalf. That judgement may seem extreme, but just prior to it in Genesis is the flood ... The ark took some time to construct. Noah, I am sure, had to answer a lot of questions about why he was doing what he was doing and Who told him to do it and why -- still, only 8 persons saved -- from the whole earth!! Pretty amazing. As long as men lived at that time -- Noah must have lost a ton of relatives in the flood -- can you imagine him pleading with his relatives and getting ridiculed ... at least until it was too late.
