Republic of Slovenia Seeks Loch's E.L.F. Technology AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Loch Harris, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: LOCH - news) confirmed reports of a special invitation from the Ministry of Defense for the Republic of Slovenia to participate in the 5th International Explosive Ordinance Conference to be held in Slovenia on September 30, 1999. Dr. Bojan Usenicnik, Director, extended the invitation to include Loch physicist Dr. Henry Blair's presentation on the unique technical merits of the E.L.F. (Eliminate Landmines Forever) System. The event is sponsored by the United States-Slovenian Trust Fund.

Word of the invitation was followed by a conference call from Dr. Vladomir Valkovic, of the Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Zagreb, Croatia. ''This invitation indicates increasing worldwide recognition of the significance of the E.L.F. System'', said Dr. Valkovic. ''We are on schedule now for the bench test of the E.L.F. in Zagreb in October and actual field tests as early as January, 2000.''
Loch's E.L.F. system is ahead of its rigorous development schedule and should be completed by year end. The final field prototype will be sent to Croatia to be tested in ''live'' uncharted, landmine fields in January, with the cooperation and endorsement of the Organization of the Croatian Mine Action Centre (CROMAC).
The Republic of Slovenia has been actively participating in international efforts aimed at the demining of the Southern European countries, thus giving concrete support to the enhanced common security in the region and in Europe as a whole. With the aim of achieving this objective, the government of the Republic of Slovenia and the United States established the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance in Bosnia-Herzogovina.
Dr. Henry Blair is expected to describe the man portable X-ray fluorescence based landmine detection and location system that can identify mine locations up to thirty meters forward providing location and range, or GPS-based coordinate data.
