Hi JDN -- yes, one thing that really troubles me about this election is that Gore offers almost nothing to the poor, but the Democrats are still perceived as being the party that cares about the poor.
Gore's big offering to people making $15-30K: if you put away $1000 for retirement, he'll match it. Gee, if I make $18000 and I have two kids, should I take $1000 away from my kids for MY retirement, rather than put every penny I have into giving them as decent a life as possible now?
Bush doubles the child tax credit. Gore leaves it unchanged. Bush cuts the bottom tax rate to 10%, Gore leaves it unchanged. Even NEWSWEEK magazine pointed out that Bush's plan helps the poor and lower middle class more than Gore's plan does.
These are the facts -- but history has the poor fooled. Gore doesn't deserve 90% of the black vote with what he's offering the poor.
Eventually the truth comes out -- not before Tuesday, of course, but some day... (I hope).
Did you visit fuzzymath.com? Surely nothing to sway you -- but, you might check out the "FuzzyMath" on energy and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. I did a lot of research on that following Debate #1. Incredible that Gore talks about destroying Alaska when the actual drilling site would occupy 3 out of 31000 square miles! But let's use 5% of the Strategic Oil Reserve, yes, to make prices dip a few dollars for a week or so...
