I would ask you what you see out there that is going to offer hope?

Just history. Something always comes along. I quit believing in slippery slopes some time during my forties after I'd lived long enough to see things seemingly unchangeable change. Crime rates actually dropped, for example. Inflation stopped. Unimaginable. The deficit dropped dramatically. Ditto unimaginable. These had been around all my life and seemed unstoppable. Rioting stopped. Just stopped. The environment actually got cleaner, for heaven's sake. I don't claim to know what will stop any of what you mentioned, only that I no longer believe in slippery slopes. I was proven wrong about them.

I paid 40K for my little condo thirty some years ago. It rose in 7-8 years to 125. My neighbor sold then. The new neighbor had to take a loss, which is why I remember the price so clearly. It sat at just under 100 for a good twenty years. Then all of a sudden it approached a half mil. Broker said she could sell my place in a day as is. Now, dunno, haven't looked. Don't know if there's a market at all.

Stuff happens. We need perspective. Unless you don't have time and flexibility to wait it out, things will more than likely come out OK. Not necessarily the same, but probably not horrible. Panic isn't useful.
