You have better tax advice than most people. You also are able to venue shop for income reporting. Many high income Californians are probably doing similar things.

Exactly the point. Those that are even comfortably within the millionaire range can find a way around the issue. Those, in the lower income brackets can not escape the sales tax.

<The very richest, who were likely to have houses and properties in many parts of the world with creative means to finesse their taxes, were the least likely to move after the tax hike, but even those at the bottom end of the millionaires scale did not pick up and leave, according to the September study.<

So those households that have income in excess of $500,000 a year will simply find creative methods for most of their income to be declared outside of California, while they will continue to use the services and amenities of California. The envisioned increased revenue from the Income Tax Increase could very well result in a decrease in revenues to the State as they simply claim their residence in a different State.

Even the low end of the millionaire scale will have the resources to move their venue for taxing authority to another state.

In our case, both our vacation house in Del Mar, and our home in Marco Island are covered by the two initiatives.
