Hi Lizzie,

Sun offers JES - Java Enterprise System, and JDS - Java Desktop System.

JES is the server suite, while JDS is the desktop suite. Both run on top of and include Linux. JES also runs on top of Solaris and it is apparently planned to support HP-UX and Windows.

JES includes:

Network Identity Services
Directory Server
Identity Server
Directory Proxy Server

Web & Application Services
Application Server Platform Edition
Application Server Standard Edition
Message Queue Enterprise Edition
Web Server

Collaboration & Communication
Messaging Server
Calendar Server
Instant Messaging

Portal Services
Portal Server
Portal Server Secure Remote Access

Availability Services
Sun Cluster

JDS includes:

Office Productivity
StarOffice 7

User Desktop
GNOME

Web Browser
Mozilla

Technologies
Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition

So the NIH deal would have been based on JDS and thus Linux.

Dave
