India is a microcosm of the world and it is preposterous to think that the sanctions will hurt India. By isolating one-fifth of humanity with endless talents, the rest of the world will lose more than India and this fact is known to the "wealthier" countries some of whom are imposing sanctions. That the sanctions do not make sense was indeed uttered by France.

Just imagine that most of the inventions by humans were by free thinkers who had no lust for wealth. A computer engineer making $100,000 per year in a US company is no more talented than, say, (i) the lower-paid guys in Bell Labs who invented UNIX and made it a free commodity, or (ii) the still lower paid guys (making less than $10,000 per year) working in a computer lab in Indian Institute of Science.

Thus, the notion that India is poor is nonsensical. The sanctions are hypocritical because they are based on a presumption that a poor India cannot be responsible despite the fact that she had been attacked by neighbours several times and that she has never started a war, that she has contributed to mankind the spirit of non-violence, that she has stood tall for non-alignment. It is naive to presume that India should not build her own security as she deems fit. It is also disingenuous to suppose that India should remain perpetually hamstrung (despite facing unwarranted attacks) and should meticulously follow the sermons of the double-standard dictators who have epitomized violence.
