Doug,

I took your suggestion and performed the following operations on my computer.

1. Scandisk
2. Disk defragmenter
3. Clear memory cache (I think I did it right in IE5 by deleting temporary internet files??)

I also went into the Maintenance Wizard and scheduled regular weekly updates. The computer seems to be running faster and I don't think it's my imagination!!
