I tried to find an article in Mother Earth News, which, from now on,I will call TMEN, which talked about growing lumber for profit. Didn't see it, but I think they said to cut off the lower branches early to get nice straight grained wood.

Walnut's another one; there have been cases of walnut rustling, because the wood had become so expensive; dashboards for Mercedes,I think. And gunstocks.
