Are you saying the next two quarter will be shut down? I don't buy it. companies like yahoo say a big portion of their money is going to storage. I believe emc business will continue. There is an article in the wsj this morning on networks(nbc) eliminating tape and going to more disk for videos, etc. This is exploding. imo.
Hard Drives, Not Tapes
Computers have been used to automate radio and TV stations for more than 20 years, mainly by playing tapes of music and commercials at pre-selected times. Now, computer hard drives are replacing tapes, and in video production, computer-generated images are being used to take the place of physical sets and, perhaps someday, even program hosts.
"They've gone beyond what we would consider our safety zone," said Gus Chambers, a producer for KUFM-TV in Missoula, Mont., after taking a tour of a "virtual set."
Improved digital technology also may mean more competition for broadcasters. Digital broadcasting, which is just beginning in the U.S., is likely to divide an audience saturated with network and cable choices even further, as stations have a chance to offer several "channels" within their allocated signal. Meanwhile, improvements in sending video over the Internet could one day provide a potent competitor to traditional broadcasters. |
