ClearWorks.net gets the green light in Texas

ClearWorks.net (Houston, TX) has signed an Interconnection Agreement with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for the delivery of dial tone to ClearWorks.net's Texas customers. This agreement finalizes the last step necessary to allow ClearWorks.net to be a complete local exchange carrier in the state of Texas.
ClearWorks.net provides fiber to the home for the delivery of bundled digital services including high-speed Internet connectivity, dial tone, digital multi-channel video, on-demand video rental, home automation, and closed-circuit security.
The Interconnection Agreement will provide ClearWorks.net the ability to exchange call traffic between the ClearWorks.net and the rest of the public switched telephone network in Texas. "The interconnection agreement is not restricted to just the areas where we are delivering bundled digital services," says Michael McClere, ClearWorks.net's chief executive officer. "The agreement lets us deliver dial tone to any resident or business in the state of Texas. So it's a very, very significant event." ClearWorks.net is one of the first companies to complete the signing of the Texas 2A Interconnection Agreement, and will begin delivering dial tone immediately, says McClere.
ClearWorks.net is targeting upscale housing developments, beginning in the Houston area. The company recently went live in its first community of 2700 residents, Canyon Gate at North Point. "We are 100% deployed and have 100% of all homeowners at Canyon Gate at North Point as subscribers. We are deploying infrastructure right now at all of the other Canyon Gate communities, totaling 10,000 homes," says McClere.
The company will be expanding next into San Antonio, located in Bexar County, which was identified by a 1998 census report as one of the fastest growing counties in Texas. "We are going by market data that identifies the fastest growing new residential development markets in the country," McClere explains. "We have a short list of cities that we want to expand to, including Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Atlanta, San Diego, and a couple different sites in Florida, including Tampa, Orlando, and Miami."
ClearWorks.net already has begun the process to acquire Interconnection Agreements in targets for expansion. "We've submitted the appropriate paperwork to accomplish in Nevada what we have in Texas right now," says McClere. "We've done it in Arizona, Florida, and some other states that we desire to expand into. That's just getting our ducks in a row in order to be able to expand quickly in those states and be successful once we're there."
