The book appears to be meticulously researched and reported. It is replete with copious footnotes, a detailed index and two appendices. Firsthand witnesses are named and quoted verbatim to support each specific, shocking charge. Each charge of false heroics is logically presented. The authors quote the official Navy citation and then present the purported eyewitness testimony that refutes the official finding. The witnesses who are summoned forth are officers and men who served simultaneously with Kerry in Coastal Division 11 and purport to be eyewitnesses to the events in question. Nice piece by Blankley. The devil is always in the details. I am glad to see the Swiftvets get recognized for doing it right. The lawsuits are meaningless right now. It will take years to get anything settled and the election is only some 80 days away. The ad and more importantly the book are on the street and the internet now. No lawsuit will stop that. Besides, the Swiftvets were willing to die for their country...There ain't a lawyer on earth who can scare them. In the past, Kerry has attacked anyone who ever questioned anything about his service...He has a whole lotta attacking to do now. This time may well be different. All Kerry has managed so far is a blurb from his campaign staff that indicates the swiftees got the Cambodia story right and some comments that the book and ad are despicable. The first is real meat. The second is mere opinion. I was glad to see Blankley recognized that the Swiftvets have nothing to gain except to clear their own names of Kerry's charges. That is important because it speaks directly to honor. That is important because everyone tied to Kerry has political and financial motivations. There is a helluva difference.
