Poor Kent, my heart goes out to you. I first heard from God and not from man. Here is the way it happened. Back in the 30's when I was a baby my mother died leaving me to be raised by grandparents. We lived way out in the country, it was during the depression and things were very difficult for us. Grandpa lost one farm and to survive leased another on faith in a good crop. We had very little gasoline for the old car and so didn't go to town, which was quite a drive, for any church services. Hence no contact with men. Grandma did have an old Bible which she kept on the second shelf of a three legged table in the corner by the fireplace. One day, in my teens, I was drawn to read in it. I started reading and discovered the history of a man that went about doing good for people. This was right up my alley, so to speak, I like to help people when I can. Anyway, the more I read, the more I realized the truth of the things I read. Later, I understood that God was speaking to me through His Word. After this I lived with an uncle for a while who went to church fairly regular. I started going of my own freewill and heard the Gospel preached. I accepted Christ Jesus as my savior. There is no way I can tell you the change that came over me. All I can say is this, it's real, very real! There is nothing of this world like it. Totally different. Hope you have the same feeling someday. It's the only way. God bless.
Don't have time to reply to the rest and don't know how to make two replies to the same post, but i'm working on it.
