I just watched a segment on "ABC News" on Missile protection. Not very encouraging.

1) Cost about Two Million per Plane.

2) Can't be done quickly, would take 3 to 4 years.

3) Best bet now, where a threat is high, is to take off at a higher angle of attack.

4) The good news is that the heat seeking missiles take a lot of training on the part of the firer, or they will not hit.

5) The other good news is that the stingers, which will find a target much easier, are in short supply on the Black Market.

But the really bad news to me is that if a couple of our Airliners were shot down in this country, I think Air Travel would come to a screeching halt, and we would be put into a major recession.
