The Cisco product just announced must carry GaAs datacomm chipsets, likely some of Vitesse's. A silicon chipset would top out at around 1Gbps, and could never handle 5 to 60 Gbps! Further corroboration: I noticed a while back that Ascend's fastest products utilize GaAs chips too. Note the part about SONET -- definitely Vitesse's turf.

For evidence, look at the announcement concerning Cisco's new product...

"The product is optimized for IP-based networks and will incorporate crossbar switching instead of the distributed routing offered by Cisco's 7500 router, sources said. It will offer throughput ranging from 5 Gbps to 60 Gbps and packet over Sonet interfaces at OC-3 and OC-12 speeds. "

...looks like high-speed datacomm chipsets from Vitesse are becoming more and more critical.
