This will require the Mac camp to again wait for and repurchase native apps for the NextOS. This is a second switch in a very short period of time. It is bound tio make IS departments that chose Win or NT look smart by comparison, as switching platforms will also require some retraining ($$$) as the NEXT user interface (although excellent) is different. I see no reason for anyone to have to go the MacOS now wait for NEXT route, as opposed to just buying NT. (Maybe Microsoft stopped work on NT for PPC because of this development? - purely speculation) I too agree with your analysis about the long term, although short term - who knows it may stir up some excitement that leads to people buying shares.
