It is easy to conceive how a flamboyant lieutenant could have convinced most of the 18 year old seamen serving under him that he was great stuff, while his more experienced fellow officers thought he was not only full of hot air but dangerous to boot.

Plus the men who endorsed Kerry have joined the campaign. They are now staying in four star hotels paid for by the campaign and being feted as heros.

The Swift vets get nothing out of this except grief. And vindication.
