Briefly, had an elderly friend in the 1980's whose husband had worked in the FDR administration.

She was extremely educated on the Constitution and our Rights as citizens. Her biggest concern was protecting the rights of the states to govern without loosing our states to regional governemt that would combine states into regions with the power of taxation by regional governments------giving three levels of taxation.

This would transfer the power of the states to the National Government which would control the regions----the regional governments.

To some extent her fears have become reality, as we now have regional transit authorities that continue to grasp for direct taxation powers-------on the people.

The major concern she had was that we would have a Federal Government that would make an attempt to grasp power from the individual states abolishing the governments of the states.

Her concerns were true then and are equally true now. When the States accept Obama's stimulus package, they will also be accepting any demands mandated via the packages/legislations.

Wish she were alive today would love to revisit some of her research.
