When the PGA on TNT ended just now, I switched over to "Hardball." It was right at the end of a discussion by Matthews with O'Neil and a pro-Kerry vet. The Vet was demanding to know why the Swifts had not questioned the Kerry's crew. O'Neil answered that they had. They sent a private investigator to question them, and talked to three of the crew on Kerry's boat who were there during "Cristmas in Cambodia." Two of them said they were not in Cambodia. The Kerry folk found out and forbid them to talk to the Swift vets anymore. Matthews jumped in and went to break.

When they came back Matthews went into a diatribe and listed the medals that Kerry had got and refused to let O'Neil respond. When O'Neil quietly raised a finger(!) and said that the medals were "smoke" and that Matthews had not allowed him to respond Matthews went ballistic. Just hammered at O'Neil for the next minute until the show was over.

Matthews has never been more obvious as a Kerry fan. I guess he realizes the trouble Kerry is in. I just shook my head watching O'Neil. This is the third day I have seen him in action and he is magnificent. It is the quietness of the man that impresses. He reminds me of the Lawyer, Joe Welch, during the Army/McCarthy hearings.

The discussion, if you can call it that, will be repeated on Hardball at roughly 10:40 EST tonight. I will post after catching the first part of it.
