Nine went public in May of 1995 (or at least close to there). They have been around since 1982 and make an excellent product. I requested data and found out that Dell Computer accounted for the following percents of total sales:
1992: ? maybe none (total sales 17 million) 1993: 30% (of total sales 25 million) 1994: 56% (of total sales 66 million) 1995: 56% (of first quarter) don't have numbers around
Then they "lost" the Dell Account in late 1995. Dell and Nine never did have a long term purchase agreement. Dell ordered, Nine furnished, strictly as a Purchase Order. Now then, the company says Dell was a 'sub 10% profit account', but still they were 60 % of Nines business. Nine has a market for high end CAD graphics cards. An example would be their 128 Pro 8MB card which in mid 1995 was a "hot ticket" if you had $1,500 to $1,900 to spend for a graphics card.
Nine does make 128 bit video/graphics accelerators. These are excellent products but can NINE get them into the retail chains, OEM's, etc. and get that revenue back up ?
I have had personal experience with NINE and like their products and company, that why I checked them out, but I'm not buying right now, I'd rather wait, there are other companies out there with revenues (profits?) going up, not down. |
