Just got my copy of the Nov-97 Greenland Minex News (a small newletter put out a few times a year by the Mineral Resources Administration for Greenland (MRA), Kompagnistrade 15, DK-1208, Copenhagen K, Denmark, Tele: (+45) 33 92 75 00; Fax: (+45) 33 13 30 17.)
A nice write-up on the diamond activity and Platinova entitled: "Greenland: part of the global diamond chase. Kimberlites, diamonds, indicator minerals but as yet no pipes." Under the Winter Exploration subheading they write: "Based on the promising finds from summer field work, diamond prospecting in Greenland continues through the winter months. For example, Platinova, along with partners Aber Resources, Lexam Explorations and Fjordland Minerals are carrying out a 10,000 line km geophysical survey in the Maniitsoq region."
The report ends with: "Expectations remain high...With the diamond search now at the stage of target testing by drilling, all wait for the next Greenland first: a pipe, a gem quality diamond, or, more simply both."
Good Luck and Happy Holidays, T.
P.S. Those interested may wish to call the MRA, they speak English and they may add to their mailing list. The newsletter is usually less than 5 pages long written mainly for mining or exploration companies and their staffs. |
