Fagan says high-tech ASC Avcan a buy

ASC Avcan Systems Corp ACN
Shares issued 3,799,829 May 6 close $1.10
Fri 7 May 99 In the News
Brian Fagan, writing in his Interim Report No. 15 of April 19, says ASC
Avcan Systems is a buy at $1.28. Mr. Fagan notes the new issue is the
successor company to Avcan Global Systems following a recent 1 to 4
rollback. Mr. Fagan says he has followed the company's affairs for some
time and is now confident enough to recommend it to his subscribers. ASC
Avcan's product, the Vid/Thermal Tracker 2000, is an advanced airborne
survey system that the letter writer contends has unlimited applications.
The company is headed by John Sutherland, who had gained a credible
reputation among investors. Mr. Sutherland was the chief financial officer
of Arequipa Resources when it was bought out by Barrick Gold. A large
shareholder and outside director is Ken Miller, who is chief executive of
MDSI Mobile Data Solutions, a company that has achieved spectacular growth
under his leadership and now trades at $30. Mr. Fagan says investors will
be hard pressed to find another company with a market capitalization of
less than $9-million and the assets and management of ASC Avcan. He
recommends buying some now and perhaps more on news.
