Mr. Robert Wasylyshyn reports
Radius Explorations has updated the Tambor gold project in Guatemala, where preparatory work for a phase I, 20-hole, 2,500-metre reverse circulation drilling program is now under way.
The Sastre zone occupies a 600 metres by 500 metres area where prospecting and hand trenching programs have outlined six oxide gold occurrences (Sastre Norte, Sidewalk, Sastre Adits, Olympic, West Ridge and Candlewax) within a large gold-in-soils geochemical anomaly. The first work program tested Sastre Adits with two hand trenches returning average values of 4.9 grams per tonne gold over 12.8 metres. Work then shifted 300 to 500 metres to the north to Sastre Norte where hand trenches SN-1, SN-4 and SN-5 returned average values of 7.8 g/t Au over 24.5 metres. Work has continued to focus on the Sastre Norte occurrence where recently reported infill and step-out trenches SN-7 to SN-10 returned average values of 7.3 g/t Au over 30.5 metres.
At the company's request, William Barclay, MSc -- structural geology consultant -- returned to the property on April 16, 2001. The purpose of this visit was to examine the geometry of the Sastre Norte occurrence in a recently completed excavator trench. This trench -- up to 10 metres deep -- is adjacent to hand trench SN-1 (11.5 g/t Au over 29.4 metres). The consultant confirmed current observations made by the company's technical staff that mineralization -- as observed in the excavator trench -- appears to be crudely inclined to the northeast rather than to the southwest; however, due to the gradational wallrock contacts and complex internal structure observed in the trench, the overall geometry of the Sastre Norte occurrence remains uncertain and can best be determined by drilling. Previously reported results for hand trenches SN-1 (29.4 m), SN-4 (24 m), SN-5 (20 m) and SN-7 (54.5 m) SN-8 (40.9 m) SN-9 (40.2 m) to SN-10 (12.4), along a 230-metre strike length, were based on an inferred uniform southwest dip. In view of this new information, these widths should now be considered as apparent widths until the Sastre Norte occurrence has been drill tested. Sampling of the excavator pits is continuing, and assays are anticipated within two to three weeks. Up to 10 drill holes are planned to test this target area.
Over the past 16 months progressively detailed work programs have outlined five shear-hosted oxide gold zones along a six-kilometre strike length of the Tambor thrust fault. Each of these zones contains finely disseminated, micron-sized gold (one/50th of a millimetre to one-fifth of a mm) in association with hematite and arsenic or mercury. One zone is adjacent to an active hot spring system. The Bridge, Sastre and Lupita-Chorro are priority drill targets and will be tested with a phase I 20-hole, 2,500-metre reverse circulation drill program.

I've been looking at this with interest but the recent weakness, especially the gap down has me concerned.

Any comments or insight?
