'A nation united by our hatred of Toronto, and by our envy of Vancouver' - some CBC comedian, Bob Robertson maybe
zapatopi.net - there is logic to dividing the continent using a north-south line rather than one from west to east - westerners are a race distinctly superior to easterners no matter which country you're in ... with exceptions of course, one can find rapport with the rural and smalltown folk of the maritimes, Québec, Vermont, Maine, etc who have yet to see the light and let go the past and move out here.
I'm not ready for metric time however, lol ... and i'd be inclined to include Alaska, the Yukon, Alberta, the rest of Alta California with the exception of Los Angeles, BC Norte, BC Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa ... hey, all the way to Chiapas ... and consider the name of Pacífica ... Cascadia's got sort of a falling connotation to it ... second choice - Arriba Arriba [spanish for 'get down']
But really the most significant split is between the urban creatures and das Volk, right? ... definitely true in Canada and México ... here we had an election in November in which the nine millions or so in greater Toronto elected a bunch of arrogant crooks called the Liberal Party [knew you'd love the name, lol] ... doesn't matter that great numbers of us who inhabit the great majority of acres of the place don't like that bunch, they're in power now and they're there for five years ... float a few square miles across that lake, problem solved ... something of the same nature came up in your election - most of the acreage voted for Dubya ... if some cosmic pest control officer could have flicked off the planet a few urban concentrations, it would not have been necessary for him to have his daddy's judges appoint him .... i've read a few of your posts, you have country tendencies, roots perhaps eh. |
