The religious right is NOT The Church. They are just the only part of the church which has become a political arm of a party, and an extremist wing at that. In that respect they've already crossed the line and sinned.
Worse, the extreme elements of the religious right, like Eric Rudolph, were raised in "churches" which actively and openly preach hatred, bigotry, vengeance, paranoia, loathing and imminent Armageddon. So there is way too much of that mental pollution in the religious right.
Further, though the relgious right screams their opposition to abortion, even early term abortion, cases to save the life of the mother, incest, rape and the anti-fertilization RU-486 morning after pill, they seem to have little or no concern for the casualties of war, pollution, gun violence, toxic chemicals and junk food. |
