Here's some of the text of the Streetq rumor:

Rumors have surfaced that Sun Microsystems (SUNW) is looking to partner or possibly acquire network appliance firm, General Magic (GMGC). According to sources, Sun (SUNW) is currently seeking to acquire a technology partner to speed up the development and adoption of its Jini technology. (Jini is a Java based architecture for network appliances developed by Sun).

Since they've almost completely misunderstood the nature of the business, it doesn't seem highly credible. (I say almost: they could be talking about DataRover which is more like a network appliance technology - but if they just wanted that GMGC might even sell their 50%(?))
