Define "used". Used should not only include shooting an intruder but simply using the pointing of weapon without firing the weapon at an intruder. Those stats only include shootings which is a phony statistic. See John Lott's study on the use of firearms over 2,000,000 a year in self defense, often simply by displaying a firearm. Displaying a firearm to an intruder doesn't exactly make the news or end up in statistics.
