MRV's switch is the least expensive because it is a bare bones
switch ,routes only ip, and is not of the "open systems" variety.IMO
MRVC has to become less proprietary to achieve a stronger presence
in the states. I regularly meet with Cisco sales engineers and when
I mention MRV or Nbase the say "WHO, never heard of them". The
higher priced switches are feature rich. I guess it comes down to
do I need an F14 or will a Piper Cub get me where I need to be.
As for Japan who's nearing a banking crises and Asia who's being
sucked into a deflationary spiral I'd choose Nbase's switch
rather than Cisco's 25k switch.
