societies go thorugh a 100 years or 50 years period in which they are adapting to a new environment.

Europe lived their Middle Ages and Africa have lived through theirs and are in the verge of coming out of it. North America didn't. N.A arrived when scientific development was kicking in and Europeans were sick of a ddying system that still clung to the past and had a nice 200-year go.

Latin America is a different story. They dind't cut the umbilical cord with Europe and kept some European ways of doing things and this has hampered their progress. There they were. We don't want to do a North America. And North America was a good model for Brazil in the 40 years from 1920 to 1960.

Looking from outside, Brazil was an US in the budding in the 20s. Then they screwed real good and copied European fascists of the 30's: Vargas in Brazil Peron in Argentina and everything went down hill. Those were the 80 years while Brazil was still trying to seek what it wanted to be.

I think now we are at Point A and we know where we want to be: POINT B. Better even! We are already acting as if we'd be already in Point B.
