RE cree

It is quite entertaining to hear the shorts' case from a family member who has known about this behavior since the early days rather than the shorts themselves. Even the NC press wrote about the potential problems back during the spinoff of C3. The shorts have educated us so well that a rehearing of the accusations is just an echo although with more fanfare this time. Your search pretty much covers the spectrum of C3 misadventures in the public domain so you know as much as I do. Eric Neal must be the saint in the family. It would be a useful exercise to look at the inventories and receivables at CTHR and CREE through the period in question. Also, the potential markets of SiC chips estimated at $2-5B by 2005 is obviously too high in hindsight but I think $1B is a reasonable estimate for the next few years. If you had asked me in 1999 if Cree will have substantive competition by now, I would have said for sure. However, the difficulties of making quality SiC in quantity continues to confound potential competitors. If I get all the shares my basis would be in the neighborhood of 16.5 which I can live with looking out 1-2 years. The boyz over at GEC must be getting a chuckle out of the feud.
