"when the social need is so great" The banks don't care about social need. That is the government's duty, and they aren't saying much and doing even less. The layoffs in the Forest Industry these last couple of years have been astoundingly huge, the article below says 20,000 jobs since 2001. That is with a population 1/3 the size of Ontario. If those kinds of numbers occurred in the Auto sector, there would be no end to screaming. While sawmills are shut, Pulp Mills going broke and others taking down time, all you hear from the government are the 2010 Winter Olympics. But raw logs are still being exported. And construction is reportedly still strong, but you know what can happen there. cnews.canoe.ca
