As APPL is positioning itself as the preferred platform to *create* content for a multi-platformed environment, that comment is not without merit. NeXT offers very capable tools for doing this.

(Reminds me of a Tony Curtis line as he was ordering some POWs about in their native Italian. He turned to an incredulous Gregory Peck and said "My family runs a store in Brooklyn, you have to know five languages to do business.")

This dovetails with SUNW-Java/IBM/MOT/Netscape/et al's initiative to create more open standards and not be hogtied to MSFT.

Reportedly, an NT-based OS was high on the list of AAPL's options. I guess $400 million for NeXT was cheaper than an NT site license. :)
