from gina smith's computer help file:

"Q: I heard there's a way to let you switch the mouse
buttons in Windows 98. How do you do it? - Name
withheld

A: I bet you're a lefty. And that can be a bummer
when the left button, instead of the right, is the main
button you're supposed to use for everything.

But it's easy to reverse the button functions so that
the left will be the right and the other way around.
Click on the Start Menu, then select Settings, then
choose Control Panel. In the Control Panel, open
the icon labeled Mouse. That opens the Mouse
Properties windows.

That'll bring you to the Button Assignments box.
Check the Left Handed option, and click on OK."
